It is seldom just the technology that needs to be looked at, it is a combination of best practices, a solid, accessible knowledge base, and aligning staff priorities to help ensure your department is successful in helping to implement the institutional strategic plan.

ITSM
IT Service Management is another term for something most of us (at least in IT) have heard of, ITIL. IT is a framework to ensure that you are providing the best service possible, with increased communication, decreased downtime, and less stress on all those involved in your program.
Some see these processes as “red-tape” as they can often times be overanalysed, over designed, and a headache for everyone involved. The goal shouldn’t be to weigh down your staff with needless steps and added work; the goal should be to provide the tools and resources to minimize that work while increasing transparency into the process.
